Our Club
On June 29, 1970, Alan Pomeroy initiated the formation of a new junior football club in Maida Vale by sending the first piece of club correspondence to the Swan Districts Junior Football Council. Starting with humble origins and just two teams in 1970, the club was initially named the Maida Vale Districts Junior Football Club but underwent a name change in 1984 to become High Wycombe.
In its early days, the club played at the Maida Vale Country Club while awaiting the preparation of new grounds by the Kalamunda Shire. The club adopted blue as its primary color, complemented by red and white bands.
Today, the High Wycombe Junior Football Club is situated at Scott Reserve in High Wycombe and proudly boasts a community of over 400 players. The club runs strong Auskick, Starkick, Junior, and Youth programs catering to both male and female divisions. High Wycombe played a significant role in pioneering female football in the area, providing a pathway for players to advance to the elite AFLW.
As one of only six clubs in the Metro Central district accredited to host the Starkick All Abilities program, High Wycombe stands out for its commitment to providing a football program designed for children who, due to circumstances or personal choice, may face barriers to participating in traditional team sports. The program is geared towards offering the necessary support and resources to enable these children to take part and, most importantly, have a fun and fulfilling experience.
The success of the High Wycombe Junior Football Club can be attributed to the outstanding efforts of volunteers who generously dedicate their time to create an environment that not only allows children to enjoy the game but also supports their development into well-rounded footballers, cooperative teammates, and individuals striving for their personal best.
