Junior Football

Also known as Modified Rules or Mods, Junior Football is designed for children in school years 3 to 6.

With modified rules and game structures, Junior Football provides all children the chance to experience AFL under the guidance of a coach in a safe and enjoyable setting. Age-appropriate rules enhance engagement, allowing kids to participate more fully and enjoy the game. Since children can’t kick as far, run as fast, or process information like adults, these adaptations are crucial for their development. This approach helps young players learn and develop skills that match their age and physical growth.

The benefits of age-appropriate rules are significant: they increase player involvement, boost enjoyment, and create a match environment that aligns with the true spirit of the game. Furthermore, Junior competitions focus on skill development and valuable experiences rather than premierships, ladder positions, or scores.

The High Wycombe Junior Football Club is affiliated with KidSport, allowing eligible Western Australian children aged 5 to 18 to receive financial assistance of up to $500 per financial year for club fees. Vouchers can be applied at various KidSport clubs, making it easier for more children to get active and engage in community sports.
